Jon is a first year student at the University of New Brunswick. Jonathan attended the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia for two years prior to working for a summer with Midwest Surveys. A career in Geomatics grabbed Jon’s attention as he explains, “The diversity surrounding the field of geomatics is quite intriguing, with the usage of cutting edge technologies and varied disciplines that can lead to generous careers with an indoor and outdoor balance”, something Jonathan values very much.
Jonathan first learned about Midwest Surveys at a career fair at COGS and he knew immediately that Midwest would be a great fit for him! “Working with Midwest Surveys was a great experience. It’s not often you can start a new job and feel at home on the first day; this was exactly what happened with Midwest Surveys”, he explains. Midwest Surveys values hard work but rewards its employees with a casual, fun environment. Jonathan’s favorite memories include Calgary Stampede week when Midwest held its Annual Stampede Breakfast. Also making his time with Midwest memorable, was the opportunity to work with the experienced Land Surveyors and Geomatics Technicians which he built great rapport with.
“Jonathan was a great addition to our team. From his first day, he was hard working and was eager to learn, he had a great attitude. When Jonathan decided to head back to University, we were sad to see him go, but we look forward to having him back this summer and eventually after graduation” Scott Boulanger, Calgary office manager explained.
