Meet Grady Rowley
Grady Rowley, currently studying at BCIT in the Geomatics program, was pleased to find work at the Midwest Surveys Maple Creek, SK location. Grady appreciates the practical knowledge gained during his work-terms with Midwest Surveys, enriching his post-secondary education.
Grady Rowley is currently attending BCIT in his second year of the Geomatics degree program. Grady has worked with Midwest Surveys for two summers in Maple Creek, SK. The opportunity for a challenging career coupled with the chance to spend a great deal of time outdoors were important factors when Grady was choosing the Geomatics industry.
“I always wanted to return to Maple Creek after school, so a career with Midwest Surveys just made sense.” Grady explained. “My experiences as a summer student with Midwest Surveys has validated my decision.” Grady explains that even though he had relatively no practical survey experience when he started his first summer with Midwest, he quickly learned a lot of skills which in turn enhanced his post-secondary experience. Grady was directly involved in drafting well-sites, pad-sites, pipelines, sketch plans, RPR’s and other plans.
One of the most memorable days on the job was when he completed his first well site on AutoCad, “It was so rewarding to see my signature on a finished project after spending several hours working on it.” Grady noted. He shares that the whole Maple Creek team made significant contributions to his learning but one person in particular, Ellen May has taught him so much about CAD drafting.
