Meet Christopher Kingston.
Christopher Kingston, a Bachelor of Science student at the University of New Brunswick, is grateful to have found his home away from home in Lloydminster, SK with his employer of choice.
Christopher is from Nauwigewauk, New Brunswick and is currently in his 3rd year of his Bachelor of Science in Geodesy and Geomatics at University of New Brunswick, Fredericton Campus. He has worked for the Midwest Surveys Lloydminster office in the summers of 2014 and 2015. Christopher knew he wanted a career that was challenging and involved the outdoors, his experience at UNB reaffirmed that Geomatics was the industry for him. He was pleased find out that there would be an opportunity for him to work in his field with Midwest Surveys after his first year of schooling. “I was looking for an employer that was focused on professional growth and somewhere where I could get to know my co-workers” Kingston explained.
Even though Nauwigewauk and Lloydminster are nearly 4000 km apart, Kingston felt right at home. “Without a doubt the whole Lloydminster office was a huge help in my adjustment to western life these past two summers.” Christopher told us. His two party chiefs helped him through any issues faced on the job and taught him more than he could have learned inside the classroom. His most memorable day on the job was during a subdivision near Turtle Lake, SK. The two day job was in a quarter section of Saskatchewan bush with wild berries as far as you could see! Christopher also explains how rewarding it is to see the finished product, Like a producing well-site or subdivision, after it has been surveyed.
